Istat says 6.6 million Italians who want to have children have given up

Istat said in its annual report on Thursday that around 6.6 million people who desire to have children in Italy have given up hope of having them. It said the reasons for these people giving up on having children were various, starting with economic and employment issues. The national statistics agency that in total 9.8 million people between the ages of 18 and 49 do not intend not to have children in the future. It said three in ten already have the number of children they wanted,
