Jockey's prayers to 'beautiful soul' Michael O'Sullivan answered with Cheltenham victory

A jockey had his prayers answered on Thursday with a Cheltenham Festival victory he owed to the late Michael O’Sullivan. Jonjo O’Neill Jr rode his first winner at the historic jumps meeting in 2019 when still a claiming rider. But he had not passed the post first since and was on the deck during the second race when his mount Springwell Bay fell and suffered a fatal injury . He needed a change of fortune in the TrustATrader Plate, in which he was riding the JP McManus-owned 3-1 favourite Jagwar.
