Germany faces resistance in push to weaken AI rules

BRUSSELS — A push by top German officials to get the EU to weaken restrictions on using artificial intelligence in industrial manufacturing is facing growing opposition in Brussels. A group of 10 European countries is opposing a proposal to shift products such as machinery and medical devices partly out of the scope of the bloc’s flagship AI law, placing them under sector-specific AI requirements instead.
