Observers: Bulgaria’s Elections Show High Turnout but Highlight Reform Gaps and Risks

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe ( PACE ) has described Bulgaria ’s early parliamentary elections as a crucial test of democratic legitimacy, public trust and the resilience of political institutions, according to the head of its delegation, Chris Said. Speaking after the April 19 vote , Said stressed that these elections carried broader significance beyond Bulgaria itself, linking them to wider European democratic stability at a time of growing pressure on public confidence
