Net salary in Romania falls in April, but remains 3.5% above last year

Romania’s average gross salary stood at RON 9,740 in April 2026, down RON 162, or 1.6%, compared with March 2026, while the average net salary fell to RON 5,843, down RON 95, or 1.6%, according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS). Compared with April 2025, the average net salary increased by 3.5%. The real wage index was 93.5% in April 2026 compared with April 2025 and 97.6% compared with March 2026.
