PM responds to calls for death penalty return after Southport murders

Downing Street says it has "no plans" to re-examine a return for the death penalty. The Government has slapped down calls - including by Reform UK - to consider bringing back capital punishment. It follows the sentencing of Southport murderer Axel Rudakubana, who had a history of violence and was reported for radicalisation. Rudakubana murdered Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, and Bebe King, six, at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class on July 29 last year. He was jailed
