U.S. consumer expectations for future economy falls to 12-year low

March 25 (UPI) -- Consumer confidence dropped for a fourth consecutive month, with numbers that may signal the arrival of a recession, as reported by the Conference Board. The financial nonprofit think tank announced Tuesday that its Consumer Confidence Index fell by 7.2 points as of March 19. Its Present Situation Index, based on the assessment by consumers of current business and labor market conditions, also decreased, dropping by 3.6 points.
