The first-ever EU-Egypt summit will take place in Brussels on 22 October. The President of the European Council, António Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, representing the EU, will meet Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi. Egypt is a key strategic partner in view of its geographical location and the major stabilising role it plays in the Middle East region.
