Abdullah Ocalan, the jailed leader of the Kurdish militant PKK group, has called for it to disarm and disband. His statement was delivered by members of Turkey's pro-Kurdish DEM party after visiting Ocalan in prison near Istanbul where he has been held since 1999. The PKK is designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey and its western allies.
