OPINION: Why Russia Went to War Against Ukraine

Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, one explanation among many unconvincing claims has repeatedly surfaced in Western debate. NATO enlargement is said to have pushed Russia into war. The argument is often presented as pragmatic and realist.
