Scientists map migratory bird brain

The entire brain of a migratory bird has been mapped for the first time using high-resolution light microscopy by a UCL-led research team. The researchers mapped the brain of the Eurasian blackcap ( Sylvia atricapilla ), a songbird that migrates twice a year for up to 6,000 kilometres between Europe and Africa, and uncovered a connection between two brain regions that may be involved in navigating this great distance.
