Keir Starmer has told business chiefs it must be a “joint effort” in tackling the impact of the Iran war as he said there is a “duty to protect British citizens” from being clobbered by rising costs. The Prime Minister hosted energy and shipping bosses in Downing Street on Monday where he said he is working on a "viable plan" for the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran’s blockade of the crucial shipping route - which transports around a fifth of the world's oil and gas - has sent energy prices spiralling.
