Europe is set to get its own Suez Canal-stye shipping route carved through the continent's largest city. Turkey is pressing ahead with the vast ' Istanbul Canal' - a £20billion mega-project designed to create a new maritime corridor between the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara. If completed, it will run parallel to the Bosphorus Strait and could re-shape key global trade routes.
