Trauma and war crime fears haunt some Israeli soldiers

Gil, an Israeli  reservist, recalls the brutal Gaza war and fears a surge in soldier suicides. Deployed in 2023, he lived in bombed homes, endured the smell of death, and allegedly faced orders to kill on sight. Psychological injuries and trauma haunt many; nearly 300 soldiers attempted suicide in 19 months, 36 died. Experts warn these wounds shatter values and linger for life.
