Wes Streeting has ordered GPs to share NHS patient data in a move scientists say will “transform our understanding of disease”. The Health Secretary has instructed the sharing of patient data with approved research projects where participants have asked for their anonymised GP record to be used. One such project is the pioneering UK Biobank which the move will help revolutionise our understanding of common diseases primarily treated outside hospital. It could help understand why conditions such
