Former Malaysian prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s corruption trial has begun at the Kuala Lumpur High Court. The case is linked to an economic recovery programme introduced after the COVID-19 pandemic more than five years ago. Mr Muhyiddin, who is also president of political party Bersatu, was charged in 2023 with four counts of abuse of power and three counts of money laundering. Afifah Ariffin reports.
