Germans have voted for change with the country's conservatives claiming victory in Sunday's national election. With the votes now tallied, it has become clear that the only way to a majority for Friedrich Merz's Christian Democrats will be a coalition with the Social Democrats. The far-right AFD have come in second with a strong showing, but Merz refuses to work with them - as do all other German parties.
