March 6 (UPI) -- Ryan Gosling surprised his wife Eva Mendes with a birthday serenade when he visited The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Thursday . The actor, 45, stopped by the show to promote the film Project Hail Mary ahead of its arrival in theaters March 20. Gosling portrays a science teacher tasked with saving the world before the sun dies. His quest introduces him to an alien whom he eventually befriends.
