As many as 27 animals died on a “death trap” farm used to hold livestock involved in the filming of The Hobbit. Animal handlers working on the film trilogy alleged the production company bore responsibility for the fatalities ahead of the film’s release in 2012. The experts said the slew of deaths were primarily down to the dangerous conditions of the New Zealand farm they were kept on. Some of these included precipices, sinkholes and damaged fencing.
