'You must decide where your red line is': SM Lee on facing pressure from other countries

Countries must decide where is their "red line" when facing pressure from powers, said Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Monday (Oct 27). Speaking at a dialogue at the Chatham House in the UK, where he is on a working visit, Mr Lee cited the case of Michael Fay, an American teenager in Singapore who was caned for vandalism in 1994. Then-US President Bill Clinton had pleaded for clemency for Fay, and while the sentence was reduced to fewer strokes, Fay was still caned for his offences. "We
