Homelessness hits new high among refugees with thousands now sleeping on streets

The number of refugees who are now homeless or at risk of being homeless in England has soared in recent years, latest government data shows. Figures show homelessness among refugees has risen from 3,560 in 2021/22 to 19,310 in 2024/25. Charities believe this is a result of government policy, with the 28-day move-on period for newly recognised refugees seen as one of the factors for the increase.
