Thousands took to the streets across the Philippines on Sunday (Sep 21) to protest the alleged misuse of government funds meant for flood control projects that never materialised. Manila police say they arrested at least 72 protesters. The demonstrations were largely peaceful, until riot police deployed water cannon in clashes with scores of mostly young, masked people who hurled rocks and shattered the glass of one police outpost.
