Labour’s deputy leader Lucy Powell has backed Sir Keir Starmer to remain prime minister, admitting he has “made mistakes” but insisting he is still the right person to lead the party. Speaking to Sky’s Beth Rigby, she conceded the Labour Party has had a difficult first couple of years in government. “We have made some mistakes,” she says. “We’ve needed to set out a clearer sense of direction and a clearer purpose. I think we’ve started to see that coming through, and I’m pleased about that.”
