House Speaker Mike Johnson promised Monday to slash government spending, so that he can bulk up America’s already massive military budget. During a speech at an event hosted by the Hudson Institute, the Louisiana Republican outlined the Republican Party’s vision to strengthen America’s foreign policy, and subsequently weaken other essential facets of its government. “To meet our defense needs, Congress has to work to grow our economy and significantly reduce our overall spending,” Johnson said .
