Pakistan's Shiite community anxious about Iran crisis
Israel
The Shiite community in Pakistan is closely watching the unrest in Iran and the challenges the Islamic fundamentalist regime is facing there. Many of them support Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's hardline regime and oppose the idea of any regime change in Iran. Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, most Pakistani Shiites have looked to the Iranian clerics for spiritual guidance and political support. The regime's supporters in Pakistan have accused the United States and Israel of fueling the unrest.
