On February 28th 2008 Ben McBean was on foot patrol in Afghanistan, just days before he was set to go home, when he stepped on a landmine. As a result, he lost his left arm and his right leg was amputated above the knee. Described as a “hero” by Prince Harry after they shared a flight home from Afghanistan, Ben went on to run multiple Marathons, complete the three peaks challenge and reach Everest base camp to raise money for veteran charities.
