President Donald Trump claimed his tariffs are making the US rich during an Oval Office meeting with Italian PM Giorgia Meloni on Thursday, April 17. Mr Trump has repeatedly claimed his tariffs are bringing in $2 billion a day to the US but federal officials say otherwise. The real figure is a fraction of that according to a spokesperson for U.S. Customs and Border Protection who told CNBC their office has taken in $21 billion in total tariff revenue since January 20, 2025.
