According to a social media post by Defense Headquarters of Nigeria on 19 May, ongoing joint counterterrorism operations by Nigeria and US AFRICOM have eliminated 175 ISIS terrorists and destroyed critical checkpoints, weapons caches, and financial networks in Northeast Nigeria. The strikes killed several high-ranking figures, including Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, a globally significant operative central to ISIS external operations, financing, and international attack planning.
