Modern drone warfare has made conditions for infantry more brutal than perhaps at any time in history, with months-long stints on front-line positions now the standard. The Kyiv Independent’s Francis Farrell and Olena Zashko traveled alongside Ukraine’s 24th Mechanized Brigade to document the reality of the "road of life" between the front-line cities of Druzhkivka and Kostiantynivka.
