The European Commission (EC) has published its 2026 Country Report and the country-specific recommendations (CSRs) for Romania, warning that the country continues to face significant fiscal, external, competitiveness, and social vulnerabilities, despite progress made through the fiscal consolidation measures adopted in 2025. The overall message of the report is that Romania has started correcting some of its macroeconomic imbalances, but the adjustment remains incomplete. The Commission notes
