Vauxhall's Luton plant to close with fears over 1,100 jobs as production moved

The owner of Vauxhall has announced plans to close its historic Luton factory next year, putting more than 1,100 jobs at risk. Stellantis says it wants to consolidate production of electric vans, at its other plant at Ellesmere Port in Cheshire. The firm says it will offer the chance for hundreds of Luton-based workers to relocate to Ellesmere Port, which currrently employs 836 people. However, the decision paves the way for large scale job losses among Luton’s 1,123 current workforce. The
