Politico reported that EU ambassadors are poised to approve a €90 billion loan to Ukraine on Wednesday, provided Russian oil transit to Hungary resumes in time. In a sign of optimism that the agreement can be finalized, the Cypriot presidency of the Council of the EU placed the Ukraine loan on the agenda for a meeting of the EU’s 27 ambassadors on Wednesday. According to four EU diplomats cited by Politico, Hungary is expected to withdraw its opposition if oil flows resume before the meeting.
