The advisor to President Sergio Mattarella accuse by a right-wing daily of scheming to "trip up" Premier Giorgia Meloni in her bid to serve out the parliamentary term until 2027 has been with the Italian president since his days as a left-leaning member of the formerly dominant Christian Democrat Party (DC) and is also a former leftwing Catholic member of the largest opposition group, the centre-left Democratic Party.     Francesco Saverio Garofani, 63, has always been one of the men closest to
