The opening for Anthony to represent the U.S. came after  Arizona Diamondbacks  outfielder Corbin Carroll suffered a broken hamate bone in his right hand. Nonetheless, the hurdle for Anthony was passing a physical. On Feb. 15, MassLive’s Chris Cotillo reported that Anthony cleared the Red Sox physical and now awaits final approval
