New York CNN — President Donald Trump’s auto tariffs could send the cost of a new car soaring . Fixing the car you already have will likely get more costly, too. Trump said Wednesday he is imposing 25% tariffs on car parts coming into the US, in addition to fully assembled vehicles. The tariffs on vehicles are set to take effect on April 3, while the tariffs on parts are set to go into effect no later than May 3, according to the proclamation signed by Trump.
