A police officer who was shot dead whilst trying to protect hostages from an armed man in a hospital has been hailed a hero who "put the mission first". Andrew W Duarte, a cop from West York, Pennsylvania, bravely "ran back towards the threat area" when several people were wounded at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York on February 22.
