Under Russian drones, Ukrainians wonder if Europe still cares

KYIV — Oleksandra Avramenko lowers her car window, not for fresh air but to listen. Stuck in morning traffic in downtown Kyiv, on the right bank of the Dnipro River, she leans toward the whine of motorcycles weaving through the lanes. “Whenever I hear that noise, I cringe,” she says. “They sound just like the drones.” It has been more than three years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion, and over a decade since the war first erupted in Donbas.
