NEW YORK, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- The next time you take your blood pressure in a supermarket or drugstore, don't worry about noise affecting the reading much -- it doesn't. A new study found a minor difference between blood pressure measurements taken in public spaces compared to those in private offices. The results, published Monday in Annals of Internal Medicine, indicate that public settings can be suitable for blood pressure screenings, despite earlier guidelines that endorsed quiet surroundings.
