Police are warning of a scam involving fake gold jewelry. Vancouver Island West Shore and Nanaimo RCMP say scammers are approaching people in parking lots in Langford and in one case a gas station in Nanaimo, BC. The suspects claim they have run out of money for food or gas and offer to sell the victims their gold jewelry for cash. That gold turns out to be fake. Police say the fraudsters rely on sympathy and urgency and in several cases even had young children with them to lower suspicion. #
