Japan's Nikkei rises past 58,000 for first time on Takaichi trade

TOKYO, Feb 12 : Japan's Nikkei share average climbed past the 58,000 mark for the first time on Thursday, extending its scorching rally since Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi won a resounding electoral victory on a campaign of increased economic stimulus. The benchmark Nikkei 225 Index was up 0.4 per cent at 57,874.61 after rising as high as 58,015.08 earlier in the day, as trading resumed after a holiday.
