More than 1,700 people have been confirmed killed in the twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela last week. Delcy Rodriguez, the country's interim president, has described it as the most brutal natural catastrophe in her country’s history. Tens of thousands of people are estimated to be missing and anger against the government is growing. Residents say rescue operations were slow to start and were sorely inadequate.
