There are so many great moments in the new Elvis concert film, Baz Luhrmann’s EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert . But my favorite comes when he’s rehearsing in 1969, backstage in Vegas, wearing these awesomely ridiculous giant purple shades. He’s burning with enthusiasm, talking music, and laughing with the other musicians. The Elvis energy just glows out of him, refuting all those stereotypes of him as a doped-out zombie.
