The families of missing people are backing calls from the mother of Jay Slater to introduce a law to stop so-called "tragedy trolling" and the spread of misinformation online. Jay, 19, went missing in Tenerife in June 2024. His body was found in a ravine a month later. While Jay's mother Debbie Duncan struggled to cope with the initial trauma of not knowing what had happened to her son, she says her ordeal was made worse by amateur online sleuths and the digital trolling the family received.
