A recent hantavirus outbreak aboard a cruise ship has drawn renewed attention to the risks of infectious disease transmission at sea. At least eight cases have been reported so far on the Dutch-flagged MV Hondius, including three deaths, according to a Thursday briefing from the World Health Organization (WHO), with five cases confirmed as hantavirus and three considered suspected.
