A mum struggling to see while doing her make-up joked she was 'going blind' - then lost the vision in one eye thanks to a tumour that could be linked to her contraceptives. Shelley Whittaker noticed she'd developed blurry vision in her left eye when she was applying mascara in November 2024, but shrugged it off as being caused by her makeup. When it continued getting worse the 47-year-old visited an optician for a check-up in January 2025 but was referred to an eye clinic when nothing was found.
