Poland’s president vetoes €44B EU loans-for-weapons program

WARSAW — President Karol Nawrocki said Thursday evening he intends to veto government legislation that lays out the how Poland should spend its €43.7 billion allocation under the EU’s loans-for-weapons scheme known as SAFE. Prime Minister Donald Tusk's government lacks the necessary votes in the country's parliament to override the veto.
