What we have been seeing for a week in Iran represents a crisis, in which a very visible economic shock - caused by the exchange rate of the rial, the increase in prices and inflation - triggered protests in commercial and urban areas (bazaars and merchants), which then absorbed older political and social frustrations (repression, corruption, lack of perspective), and the state responded simultaneously with palliative measures and a security line that is strengthened as the protest expands
