The pace of global warming has nearly doubled since 2015, a new study published today in Geophysical Research Letters has found—meaning that we could breach the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial temperatures before 2030.  Between 1970 and 2015, global mean surface temperature tended to follow a steady trend, rising at an average rate of 0.2°C per decade. But by 2015, that changed—over the past ten years, the world has been heating at a rate of about 0.35°C
