Jorge Alvarez is an economist in the World Economic Studies Division of the IMF's Research Department. Previously, he worked in the Development Macroeconomics Research Division and covered Canada, Mexico and Colombia at the Western Hemisphere Department. His research primarily focuses on labor markets, capital and labor misallocation, structural transformation, and price dynamics. He holds a B.A. in economics from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in economics from Princeton University.
