Despite a fragile ceasefire and the UN Security Council's approval of the US-backed Gaza peace plan , residents face harsh realities . In Khan Younis , families return to homes reduced to rubble, battling floods and sewage in makeshift shelters. UNICEF reports that more than 630,000 children missed school during the two-year war, which killed an estimated 70,000 people and injured 167,000, according to Hamas-run health authorities. Humanitarian aid struggles to meet urgent needs.
